Democrats To Hold Caucus Later To Choose Council Member

The Cass County Democratic Party has decided to wait on choosing a replacement for Logansport council member Kevin Burkett. Burkett has stepped down from his at-large seat on the council to accept a job as editor of the Pharos-Tribune. Burkett is a Democrat, so the party gets to choose a replacement to fill the vacant term until it expires. A successor was supposed to be chosen last night, but Democratic Party Chairman Paul Ulerick said they’re not quite ready yet. A caucus will now be held on October 10th. Four candidates have come forward to express interest in the city council seat. They are Carl McPherson, Rick Ricks, Dave Oresik, and Matt Meagher.
