EARLY VOTING BEGINS APRIL 20, 2015

Today is the first day of early voting for Logansport’s municipal election. Registered voters who live within the Logansport City limits can vote in the garage at the Cass County Government Building weekdays from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon through Saturday, May 2. The garage will also be open from 9 to noon the day before Election Day. Vote Centers will open at the Logansport Mall and Downtown Senior Center April 30, May 1 and 2 and on Election Day, Tuesday, May 5.

Logansport voters will be electing a mayor, clerk-treasurer and all seven members of the Logansport City Council this year. In the primaries, there are three Republicans and three Democrats vying to represent their party on the ballot this fall. Republican candidates for mayor include Ted Franklin, Mike Berkshire and Larry Hood. Democrat candidates for mayor include Dave Kitchell, Matt Meagher and Rick Ricks.

For Logansport Clerk Treasurer, candidates are Carol Sue Hayworth and Tyler Ness in the Republican primary. Democrat Stacy Cox is uncontested in the primary.

There are no contests for city council in the primary. Ward 1 candidates are Republican Bob Bishop and Democrat Dave Morris. Ward 2 candidate is Republican Joe Buck. In Ward 3, Gary Fox is the Republican candidate and Amy Densborn is the Democrat candidate. Ward 4 candidates are Republican Mike Stajduhar and Democrat Scott Peattie. Ward 5 candidate is Republican Teresa Popejoy. The candidates for the council’s two at-large seats, which all voters will see on their ballots, are Republican Chris Martin and Democrat Terry Doran.

Check your voter registration online at indianavoters.com as residents in the southeast annexation area are included in the city precinct maps, with some represented by Ward 2 and others by ward 5.
