Southeastern School Corporation has hired an interim superintendent as they prepare to move forward with the search for a new superintendent. John Sayers started June 29 and will serve as interim for about 6 months, according to school board president Mary Hartley. Sayers retired as superintendent from Carroll School Corporation in December 2011 and is now a consultant with Administrator Assistance, which is an education consulting company that provides interim superintendents as well as superintendent search services and a variety of other services to school corporations.
The Southeastern School board will vote July 22 on how to proceed with the search for a new superintendent for the corporation. Hartley says they could do the search on their own or use a consultant service like Administrator Assistance or the Indiana School Board Association. Once the decision is made, the application preparation process will start on July 29.
Southeasterns's former superintendent, Trudie Hedrick, resigned in June, to take a position as an elementary principal in southern Indiana.
