SUMMER ENERGY ASSISTANCE, FRESH PRODUCE AVAILABLE

Help with summer energy bills is available for eligible individuals and families while funding lasts. A family of four is eligible for the Area Five Agency Energy Assistance program if they make under $3,031 a month and have not already received the summer benefit. New applicants or denied households can apply once between July 1 and August 15, 2015, or as long as funding is available. Energy saving kits are available for approved households. Visit areafive.com, and click on Families, then energy assistance for more information. This program is available in Cass, Howard, Miami, Tipton and Wabash Counties.

Area Five also is accepting application for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition program, which helps those age 60 and older access fresh, locally-grown produce. Eligible individuals must be 60 or older, Indiana residents, income eligible and receive a service provided by Area Five Agency. The program is only available while vouchers last. A household of 1 is eligible if they make under $1,815 a month. Individuals can apply once through Sept. 30 as vouchers are available. For more information on either program, call 800-654-9421.
